OWH World Card Making Day Blog Hop

Image
I just experienced one of those needed do-over moments.  I made the card below first, recalling measurements but not the direction the card was supposed to be going.  I had to adjust the Old Olive CS, because that measurement seemed small.  I went to link up to the sketch and discovered my error.  I was going to go with it because it is late, I'm tired and there are dishes to do.  I couldn't do it.  I tried but I couldn't post it today of all days.  The above card is my do-over.  I like it.  I'm going to do the dishes and go to bed.  We've got 4 girls sleeping over but I will sleep through their laughs and chatter.  Enjoy! I used Sketch 175 to make this card.  Stamps:  Gently Falling, Chalk Talk CS:  Pear Pizzazz, VV, Early Espresso, Old Olive, Cajun Craze Misc.:  Brads, Woodgrain EF Click the image below to continue .

OWH Memorial Day Weekend Blog Hop

OWH is a wonderful organization that sends cards to our military that are deployed so they can write and stay connected with their family.  This group is near and dear to my heart due to our experiences in the military and knowing how much it means to have that mail on both ends.  When my husband was deployed, our kids looked forward to the times they could share a little of what was going on in their lives and know their dad was okay.  I'm grateful for those that serve and have served our great country. I made this card using sketch challenge 160 from OWH. Stamps:  Service & Sacrifice, The Brave & the Free CS:  Night of Navy, Real Red, WW Ink:  Stazon Jet Black, Always Artichoke, Old Olive, Crumb Cake, Real Red, Night of Navy Misc.:  Chevron EF, dimensionals, watercolor brush, star punch *I forgot to put the star on to the left of the sentiment.  I will have to take a picture later.  My husband has patiently waited for me...

OWH Cardmaking Day Blog Hop

I am so happy to have the opportunity to join this hop.  Being military and having experienced deployments and  knowing first hand how happy everyone is on both ends when mail is received, this makes my heart happy.  I haven't been stamping lately but I'm jumping back in and taking time to enjoy the little things, which includes stamping. I'm thinking by now you know what OWH is about, but just in case, people send them cards for holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.  They (OWH) package them up and send them overseas so the military can use them to send greetings to their family.  Another way to stay connected. I chose to use the Pines and Poinsettias stamp set for my card.  I must confess, I was on the fence about this set.  I didn't plan to even get it because I tend to go for sharper, crisper images and this blends together a lot for me.  Why did I get it?  Because I didn't pay a penny for it.  I'm still deciding on this s...

OWH Be My Valentine Blog Hop

Image
You're probably thinking "Valentine's Day . . . Seriously?!" It seems like the focus just turned to Christmas and now I'm fast forwarding a couple of months. The reason for this jump is that for the troops overseas, the deadline for us to make Christmas cards for them to use has come and gone. If you plan to make Valentine's Day cards for Operation Write Home (OWH ), the deadline is January 7th. I have two Valentine's Day cards to share today. Stamps: Greeting Card Kids, Well Scripted CS: Rose Red, VV, Elegant Eggplant, Soft Subtles Patterns DP Ink/Markers: Baja Breeze, Elegant Eggplant, Rose Red, Blush Blossom, Crumb Cake Punches: Heart border, large oval, decorative label Misc.: Deck the Halls designer button, Basic Pearl Jewels, dimensionals, glue dots, Victoria ribbon This next card is pretty much a case of Ilina Crouse. I used different DP and colors but the layout is hers. Stamps: I {heart} Hearts, Tiny Tags CS: VV, Riding Hood Red, Basic ...

OWH Just Believe

A fairly simple card that I'm making for Operation Write Home (OWH). I'm hoping to make some other cards to send off in a couple of weeks. If you are a stamper, you are most likely aware of the organization. If you are a friend of mine checking to see what I've been up to in the stamp room, you may of heard me mention OWH, or perhaps saw the tat Ben gave himself with the stamp. The cards that OWH receives are sent to deployed troops so that they are able to send cards home for birthdays, anniversaries, miss you, etc. Stamps: Just Believe CS: So Saffron, Always Artichoke, Perfect Plum, VV Ink: Always Artichoke, Perfect Plum Misc.: Piercing tool, scallop border punch
