Thoughts of a Grasshopper

Every year I participate in the Christmas Card Swap on VC Rocks.  There weren't as many players this year, but I'm still glad I was able to be a part of it. Anita Watson  made the card above using Calm Christmas and Dictionary stamp sets. Catie Palmer   used Naughty & Nice and That Rotary stamp sets Elizabeth Kratzer  used Ornament Keepsakes.  Nice to see the Holiday Framelits used. Ellen Boyle used Lovely as a Tree and Greetings of the Season Jane Hignite  used the Four 4 You stamp set Leanna Kerr  use Joyful Christmas Sherry Davis  used Best of Brides and Babies and More Merry Messages The above card is unknown.

I need a do-over on this card.  I like it but I'm not too hot on my paper choice.  Perhaps if I switched the sides on the DP it would look better.  I like the fold and that the tag is secured behind the snowflake, which keeps is closed.   I like the Frosted Finishes embellishment.  I'm having trouble with thinking of it as a Christmas card because of the color and I'm not fond of the DP on the left. This is not my favorite square.  It was easy to cut the pieces for the square, rather fast in fact.  The shop substituted one of the fabrics and it really would have looked better with the original fabric they had chosen.  The blue that is a shade darker on the "star" (upper right/lower left) is the same design as their original choice but it is a lighter shade of blue.  I think it needs to be darker because of the blue diagonal line going through and simply for contrast within the star. I'm going to ask when I go if I can buy a kit for this block and then I'll substitute it with my own fabric (if I have any of the original fabric they chose).  I need to check my stash before I go buying it.

Today was one of those Sundays when the those that are somehow tied to Primary (i.e., teachers, nursery leaders, cub scouts, activity days, etc.) got a little something to thank them for all they do.  I try to do something every month.  Some months my "gift" is spendy and some months it isn't.  This is one of those months that ran pretty cheap for me.  I already had the cellophane bags, cardstock and ribbon so I only needed to buy the pudding and spoons.  The pudding was on sale = BONUS!!  I put together 36 bags for $8. We have a song in our hymn book called Put Your Shoulder to the Wheel .  I found this to be a fun play on that.  The idea came from Pinterest with a tag ready made that you could print, which I didn't use.  I wanted it to look a little more snazzy.  I typed the quote and printed it on Crumb Cake cardstock and whisper white for the circle portion of the tag.  I used the Two Tags die, scallop punch, and 1-3/8 circl...
