Nuclear Science MB

One of the Scout leaders from our unit organized an event and opened it up to other troops in our area.  The Scouts had the opportunity to visit a military installation and work hands-on on the badge with Airmen that are trained in this area.  Pretty awesome experience for them.  This is a merit badge that you really can't earn on your own, you need to have an opportunity like this.  The event was flawless and they are looking to make it an annual event.  Yay!

VC Rocks: Have A Heart Blog Hop

Image
So glad you are here.  You just came from Karen's blog where you saw her 3D bags.  I hope you will consider joining her swap.  Perfect way to get some ideas on 3D fun!  If you want to go back to any of the blogs, you can go to the VC Rocks blog and find the list of participating bloggers there. Somehow, time got away from me.  I'm still playing catch-up from being sick and have so much work to get done for the coming week.  Crazy what the last week of school brings but so glad that summer is almost here.  I was going to make a card for my husband.  He is so close to being done with his deployment so I wanted to make a fun, sassy card but I couldn't fit the hearts in, in a way that I liked.  I made another card using the Apothecary Accents Framelits.  You can see the large label is good sized.  I managed to include hearts with the adorning accents embossing folder, a heart punch and framelit and the stamped image has a heart...

Hello

Image
There is a weekly challenge now.  When it first came out last Sunday or Monday, I thought it would be easy peasy.  Layered pink flower and it could be a card, scrapbook page, 3D, the skies the limit.  I ended up very behind last week.  I functioned, but barely and if I wasn't busy with something I "had" to do, I was asleep.  Whatever I caught has kicked me down pretty hard.  Still not the best but at least I didn't want to crawl back into bed once the kids were off to school today.  With 7 minutes to spare on the deadline, I got the above card done.  Still want to add a butterfly just haven't gotten around to it. This "dude" is a picture of my son's flour baby.  Remember when we were in school we had to carry around an egg.  He had to carry around a 5 lb. bag of flour.  They had to wrap their flour in duct tape or shipping tape so they wouldn't have flour all over the school.  I kind of liked this vs. the egg because car...

Just Believe Birthday

Image
I either picked up a cold from church or from the hospital.  Day 2 of no voice and day 3 of a stuffy head with a bit of a headache.   My kids find it humorous to listen to my squeaky voice if a sound actually does come out.  At least someone is humored by it. Pretty much a CASE of a card on Pinterest.  It didn't link to the creator, just another picture.  For their green portion they used a striped DSP, I chose to use the Textured Impressions Stripes embossing folder.  A fun greeting for a birthday. Stamps:  Just Believe, Sincere Salutations CS:  Old Olive, WW, Real Red, Basic Black Ink:  Old Olive, Black Misc.:  Pearls, textured impressions stripes EF, scallop border punch, black 1/4" grosgrain ribbon.

Vintage Birthday

Image
I saw this on Pinterest, which led me to lwdesigns.blogspot.com.  I had to CASE this.  Love the colors of the card and the look. Stamps:  Vintage Vogue, Apothecary Art, Very Vintage Jumbo Wheel CS:  Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy, Crumb Cake, VV Ink:  Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy, Crumb Cake, Certainly Celery Misc.:  Baja Breeze Seam Binding, Pearls, Boho Blossoms Punch

Inspired Birthday

A busy day yesterday helping out a friend.  Her daughter hasn't been well for a bit and she ended up in the hospital last Friday.  My daughter and I went to visit Sunday after church.  I spent Tuesday getting my kids off to school and then snagged her son, ran an errand for her and drove into Orlando to the hospital.  I left him there to visit with his mom and sister.  Later I went to the airport to pick up her mother, back to the hospital so they could visit, then I brought her mother and son back to her house.  Full day with 5-6 hours of it spent in the van driving back and forth.  I'm glad they know what is up with her daughter and she is on the mend and that her mom is here to help out.  It has been hard for her with her husband deployed. Today's card is a quick one. Stamps:  Inspired by Nature, Well Scripted CS:  WW, Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink Ink:  Chocolate Chip, Wild Wasabi Markers:  Chocolate Chip,...

VersaMarker Outline

Something tells me this technique has a name, but I can't think what it is at the moment.  I made several versions of this card about a month ago at a CASE from Pinterest.  It is really nice in person with the contract, although, I find the contrast much more dramatic when freshly stamped.  After a few days, it wasn't as bold, still there and looks good, but it just isn't the same.  I left the lower right blank because this is a card you can use for birthday, thank you or in general.  It will get its greeting later. Stamps:  Mixed Bunch CS:  Crumb Cake, WW, Wild Wasabi Ink:  Tempting Turquoise, Real Red, Craft White Misc.:  Bottons, twine, VersaMarker

Mixed Bunch

I received my Stampin' Success last week and this card was in it in a simplified version and kicked up a notch.  Mine is somewhere in between the two samples shown.  Sorry for the slightly blurred picture.  I need to charge my camera battery so I have to use what I got. Stamps:  Mixed Bunch, Curly Cute CS:  Crumb Cake, Poppy Parade, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, VV Ink:  Blushing Bride, Daffodil Delight, Baja Breeze, Poppy Parade, Old Olive, Crumb Cake Misc.:  Perfect Polka Dots EF, Scallop Ribbon punch, 1/2", 3/4", 1" circle punches, blossom punch

Bling Challenge

Image
The final challenge was to use bling on your card.  The angle of my photo isn't showing the bling off too well, due to trying to get the embossing to show better.   Stamps:  Mixed Bunch, Friendly Phrases CS:  Old Olive, Calypso Coral, So Saffron, VV Ink:  Tempting Turquoise, Pear Pizzazz Misc.:  Boho Blossoms punch, bird punch, Diamond basic jewels, framelits labels collection, perfect polka dots ef, flower garden ef

Fabulous Florets

Image
This challenge required using a half sheet with a stamped background from a previous challenge.  Also, in another challenge, we selected scrap pieces of paper and an embellishment.  For this challenge, you had to pick to pieces of the scrap paper and one embellishment.  This is what I ended up with. Stamps:  Fabulous Florets CS:  Island Indigo, Baja Breeze, Rich Razzleberry Ink:  Island Indigo, Rich Razzleberry Misc.:  Rich Razzleberry polkadot grosgrain

Pretty Peony

For this challenge, you had to pick something that had to do with what you loved about stamping in the beginning.  For me, that would be two-step stamping.  My first set was the DD Daisy from Stampin' Up!  I was tempted to use that but decided to dust off this under-used set.  The last time I used this was 3 years 1 day ago.  Kind of sad for such a lovely set. Stamps:  Pretty Peony, Friendly Phrases CS:  Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, WW Ink:  Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Basic Gray Misc.:  Baja Breeze seam binding, perfect polka dots ef

L.A.T.E.

Image
The challenge here was to make a card using a word that you gave in a previous challenge that described yourself.  I was going to use "joyful" but changed it to "late".  When I asked my husband what word he would have chosen for me, he said "confident".  That would have been a good choice too.  How does "late" fit into this?  You had to take each letter and use something that either starts with that letter or has the letter in it. L - Loads of Love A - Aqua Painter (if that didn't count - Razzleberry) T - Tempting Turquoise E - Embossing Powder Stamps:  Loads of Love CS:  Rich Razzleberry, Basic Black, Tempting Turquoise, Pear Pizzazz, Watercolor paper Ink:  VersaMark, Tempting Turquoise, Basic Gray, Basic Black Markers:  Tempting Turquoise, Rich Razzleberry, Pear Pizzazz Misc.:  Heart punch, 1-1/4" circle punch, perfect details texture plate, aquapainter, detail black ep
